High Performance
Gymnastics Queensland's High Performance Program for Men and Women is housed at their State Training Centre at Chandler. This program is part of Gymnastics' National program and therefore is a joint venture between Gymnastics Queensland (GQ) and Gymnastics Australia (GA).
The key objective of Gymnastics Queensland High Performance Centre is to provide a high standard facility, along with an internationally renowned coaching team to create the necessary environment in which exceptional Queensland gymnasts can achieve their goals of becoming World and Olympic champions. Gymnastics Queensland High Performance Centre is a two-tiered structure sitting directly below the National team program and consists of Scholarship Squad members along with Development Squad members.
The Gymnastics Queensland High Performance Centre stages trials at various times throughout the year providing gymnasts from across Queensland with the opportunity to be considered for the elite training program. In addition, a number of key clubs across Queensland have been identified and are recognised as key feeder clubs based on the quality programs that offer and which can lead gymnasts into the elite arena.
Gymnastics Queensland High Performance Centre has been identified by Gymnastics Australia as a 'Core Program' for both Men and Women.
Training Facility
In addition to housing Queensland's Elite Men's and Women's program the State Training Centre is available to member clubs and schools for specialized training sessions. This ensures that all athletes and coaches across Queensland have access to the world class facilities to enhance their gymnastic experiences. Many of Queensland's State teams heading to National Championships also complete their training camps at this facility before departure to the events.
Educational Development
As part of their ongoing development program the Association's elite coaching team, based at the State Training Centre, also provide educational workshops for Queensland's Technical Members, at various times throughout the year. These are excellent workshop opportunities for all coaches and are keenly sought so ensure you book early as maximum participation numbers are set for each workshop.
